Honouring Marg MalloryToday's Date -- February 1, 2010 Tuesday afternoon church services are well attended by the residents of Blenheim Community Village. Each Tuesday Marg Mallory can be heard on the organ playing favourite hymns for the residents. The ministers of the Blenheim and District Ministerial Association take turns in offering a service of worship each Tuesday from September through July. Marg is an integral part of those services as she provides the music that is so important for the residents. When asked how long she has played for the services, Marg’s response was, “As long as Blenheim Community Village has been here, and at the Guilds home before that. I don’t know how many years – a long time.” In December, Marg closed her hymn book for the last time and handed the music book on to her successor. “I’m going to miss the residents. I’ve come to know many of them over the years.” The residents were quick to note that they were going to miss Marg. “She’s here every week,” one of the residents remarked, “she’s part of our family here.” Lisa Maynard, activation manager for the home, said that Marg is “very dedicated and well respected by the residents. We are going to miss Margaret.” The ministers reiterated those same comments. Marg’s years of dedicated service will not be forgotten by those who worked closely with her – the staff, the residents, and the ministers. At a recent gathering of the Blenheim and District Ministerial, Marg was presented with a gift in thanks and in celebration for her years of service.
